Ukrzaliznytsia has updated train schedules: when the new timetable will come into effect

According to ТСН: Ukrzaliznytsia has successfully updated train schedules in just a week. The new timetable will take effect from January 22, allowing the company to achieve 91% on-time arrivals.

From January 8, ticket sales for trains departing from January 22 will start. The sales will occur in several stages:

  • about 70% of domestic routes will be available in the Ukrzaliznytsia app as early as 08:00;

  • all international destinations will be available from 09:00;

  • other routes will be available until the end of the day.

According to the new schedule, 118 long-distance trains and 62 suburban trains will operate. This will allow for necessary safety adjustments and reduce delays on the Fastiv section, which has been affected by enemy shelling, where restoration work is ongoing.

Our schedulers have completed the work in absolutely record time — in 7 days — which according to European practices usually takes 5 months. As a result of these changes, Ukrzaliznytsia will be able to return to the usual for Ukrainians — and very motivating for our European colleagues — 91% on-time arrivals, said the head of the company Alexander Pertzovsky.

It should be noted that on January 4, the suspension of ticket sales for routes after January 21 was announced due to schedule adjustments resulting from enemy shelling of the railway in the Fastiv area. The updated schedule will take effect from January 22. Before the new timetable is introduced, delays in trains on the Fastiv section may range from one to two hours depending on traffic intensity.

Ukrzaliznytsia also reported that due to repair work in January and February, the schedule for suburban trains in three regions: Lviv, Ivano-Frankivsk, and Kharkiv will change.

These changes in the timetable provide Ukrzaliznytsia with an opportunity to adapt to the current conditions and enhance the safety level for passengers. An important part of this process is the timely sale of tickets, allowing people to plan their trips in advance, taking into account the new conditions for train operations.
