Ukraine's Railways Unveil 66 New Luxury Carriages on Kyiv-Chelm Route.
Ukrzaliznytsia's New Sleeper Carriages
According to Novyny.live: In a significant upgrade to its passenger services since the onset of Russia's full-scale invasion, Ukrzaliznytsia, Ukraine's state railway, took delivery of 66 new carriages last autumn. These new luxury sleeper compartments on the Kyiv to Chelm route are designed to provide a comfortable journey for passengers. This investment highlights the railway's commitment to maintaining and improving vital transport links during a challenging period for the country.
Each carriage features private luxury compartments equipped with two lower berths, ensuring both comfort and privacy. A one-way ticket on the Kyiv-Chelm route costs 4,200 hryvnias. To enhance the travel experience, passengers are provided with a bedding set, including linens, a pillow, and a blanket.
Every berth in the compartment comes with a power outlet and a personal reading light, allowing travelers to use electronic devices or read during the trip. Ukrzaliznytsia has also clarified a new storage policy: the luggage space under the lower berth is reserved exclusively for the passenger who purchased the ticket for that specific berth. This rule is intended to increase convenience and security for all travelers.
Key Information for Passengers
The introduction of these new luxury sleeper carriages is part of Ukrzaliznytsia's broader efforts to modernize its rolling stock and improve passenger service quality. Implementing these amenities demonstrates the company's aim to provide comfortable travel conditions for Ukrainians, particularly amid ongoing challenges.
The acquisition of these carriages marks an important step in renewing Ukraine's passenger rail infrastructure. It responds to the public's need for more comfortable and secure travel options, a priority that has become even more relevant during wartime. By continuing to work on service improvements, Ukrzaliznytsia seeks to enhance its public image and attract more passengers in the future.
