Russian Attacks on Sumy and Chernihiv Railways Force Ukrainian Rail Service to Alter Schedules.
Ukrainian Railways Announces Schedule Changes
According to Novyny.live: Ukrzaliznytsia, Ukraine's state railway operator, has adjusted train schedules following Russian attacks on rail infrastructure in the Sumy and Chernihiv regions, warning passengers of potential delays. These strikes damaged a locomotive and overhead power lines, disrupting traffic on specific sections of the network. For safety, passengers and railway staff have been moved to secure locations. The ongoing conflict continues to severely impact Ukraine's critical civilian infrastructure.
Dangerous Sections and Partial Service Restoration
The railway segment between Lozova, Barvinkove, and Kramatorsk remains hazardous; consequently, passengers are being transported by bus on that route. Meanwhile, train service to Zaporizhzhia has partially resumed, restoring a vital connection. Ukrzaliznytsia has urged all passengers to follow instructions from train crews and station staff closely to ensure their safety during travel.
These schedule alterations are a direct consequence of the ongoing military aggression, which continues to inflict damage on Ukraine's infrastructure.
While Ukrzaliznytsia is implementing measures to protect passengers, the situation remains tense, particularly in regions under attack. The resumption of service to Zaporizhzhia indicates a gradual improvement in some areas, but risks persist, and travelers are advised to remain vigilant.
