Ukrzaliznytsia Adjusts Train Schedules, Implements Bus Replacements on Key Routes.
Ukrzaliznytsia Announces Schedule Changes
According to TSN.ua: On February 27, 2023, Ukraine's state railway operator, Ukrzaliznytsia, implemented significant schedule alterations and introduced bus replacement services. These measures are a direct response to security concerns and the consequences of Russian attacks, aimed at safeguarding passengers and optimizing transport connections amidst escalating threats. This is part of the railway's ongoing adaptation to the wartime conditions affecting the country.
In Kherson Oblast, train operations are being organized with the current security situation as the primary consideration. For Sumy and Chernihiv oblasts, regional trains are only running to and from the Konotop station. In Kharkiv and Donetsk oblasts, passenger transport is being maintained via bus transfers, which effectively sustains vital inter-city links where rail service is severely limited.
Furthermore, in Zaporizhzhia, a nighttime artillery strike caused power supply disruptions, which also impacted train schedules. Movement to and from the 'Dnipro-Holovnyi' station is restricted for trains No. 86/85, No. 128/127, No. 6, and No. 40/39. The connection between Dnipro and Zaporizhzhia is now being serviced by bus transfers, providing a crucial alternative to rail travel under these circumstances.
Ukrzaliznytsia urges passengers to follow the instructions of train crews and station staff. They also recommend keeping push notifications enabled in the official 'UZ - Ukrzaliznytsia' mobile application to receive the latest updates on train movements and schedule changes.
Current Safety Information
The railway schedule adjustments reflect the evolving security situation across Ukraine, particularly in areas experiencing active hostilities. The deployment of bus transfers is a critical step for ensuring passenger safety and maintaining essential transportation links during this period of instability. Passengers are advised to stay informed through official channels for their own safety and travel planning.
