Umerov reported good news for military personnel pursuing higher education.

Ukrainian soldiers can now obtain higher education without interrupting their service, announced Minister of Defense Rustem Umerov. Amendments to the Regulations on Military Service allow contract soldiers and conscripts aged 18 to 24 to study at higher education institutions. The changes have already been supported by the Cabinet of Ministers, and soon the project will be sent for the President of Ukraine's signature.
To continue their studies at a higher educational institution, permission from the commander of the unit or higher command is required, which is formalized by an order from the military unit. These changes are significant for those signing a contract under the project 'Contract 18-24' as they will have the opportunity to serve and obtain education, develop professional skills, and prepare for a future career, both in the military and in civilian life, Umerov stated.
Moreover, through the application 'Reserve+', many applications have already been submitted for signing a one-year contract for service in the army for volunteers aged 18 to 24. The Ministry of Defense provides detailed explanations about the stages of application review and preparation for service.
The first military personnel under the '18-24' contract have already taken the oath and will begin service in the 10th Mountain Assault Brigade 'Edelweiss'. The training of men who have joined the military service under the '18-24' contract lasts up to three months under a three-tier program.
For youth wishing to join the Armed Forces, the Ministry of Defense conducts a military-medical commission (VLK), with volunteers prioritized in the queue for examination.
