New Labor Law in Ukraine: What the Government Plans and How It Affects Daily Life.
Ukraine Reforms Labor Market: New Laws and Programs Introduced
According to TSN.ua: The Ukrainian Cabinet has approved a draft of a new Labor Code, which is now submitted to Parliament for voting. At the same time, the government announced a 'Week of Employment' that includes measures for career counseling and retraining. The aim is to better integrate various groups of the population into the labor market - including:
- young people
- women
- older workers
- veterans
- internally displaced persons
- people with disabilities
Currently, about 13.1 million people are employed in Ukraine. Nevertheless, 74 percent of companies have difficulty filling open positions - a clear sign of the skills shortage. The national employment strategy, which runs until 2030, focuses on long-term planning. A concrete step: starting in 2026, the rules for salary calculation for employees in municipal administrations will be changed, which is likely to have a noticeable impact on working conditions locally.
'The draft of the new Labor Code will be submitted to Parliament,' said Julia Swyrydenko.
With the legislative initiative, the government aims to adjust labor law to the current challenges of the market and the needs of society. The announced Week of Employment is considered an important milestone to promote new initiatives and improve the economic situation. The reforms not only aim for better working conditions but also to combat the staffing shortage that burdens many companies. By involving different social groups, integration into the labor market should be promoted - a step that could sustainably strengthen the stability and development of the Ukrainian economy.
