The government introduces weekly price control on medicines: what will change in pharmacies.
Implementation of new price control measures for medicines
According to Novyny.live: The Government of Ukraine is introducing stricter measures to control prices for medicines in pharmacies, including the creation of a list of medicines for weekly price checks. This decision aims to ensure the availability of medications for the population and to prevent abuses by sellers.
Price control for medicines will be carried out by the Ministry of Health and the State Service of Ukraine on Food Safety and Consumer Protection. These agencies have been instructed to continuously monitor the prices of individual medicines, which will allow for timely identification of violations. If violations in markups are discovered, the Government promises to respond and impose fines on such business entities, as noted by Yuliya Svyrydenko.
Reducing the financial burden on patients
Furthermore, pharmacies operating in state and municipal hospitals are required to sell only medicines from the three cheapest in the National Price Catalog. This is aimed at reducing the financial burden on patients who need medications.
It is also worth mentioning that gas stations are allowed to sell over-the-counter medicines, provided they have the appropriate license. This innovation may ensure greater availability of medications for the population, especially in regions where pharmacy networks are not always well represented.
Overall, the new price control measures for medicines aim to improve the situation in the pharmaceutical market of Ukraine and provide consumers with affordable and quality medications.
The introduction of new price control measures for medicines is an important step towards improving the accessibility of medical preparations in Ukraine, especially in the face of economic challenges. Increased control by state bodies can help reduce cases of abuse and ensure a fair price for consumers. At the same time, the innovations regarding the sale of medicines at gas stations expand opportunities for the population, especially in remote regions where access to pharmacies may be limited.
