The International Energy Agency (IEA) warns that winter will be the toughest test for Ukraine's energy network since Russia's invasion. It is noted that numerous power plants in Ukraine have been destroyed or damaged. The IEA has proposed ten measures to restore the energy infrastructure, but they have not been specifically named.

The agency also warns of electricity supply problems for Moldova after the cessation of Russian gas transit through Ukraine in 2024.

It is reported that over the past two winters, Ukraine's energy system has withstood the load, but this winter will be the toughest test. The IEA emphasizes that after the Russian invasion, about half of Ukraine's generating capacities were destroyed or damaged, as well as half of the large network substations.

Due to the loss of more than two-thirds of its capacities, Ukraine faces a large gap between available electricity supplies and peak demand. The Director General of the IEA urges European countries to help restore damaged facilities and ensure their protection from drone attacks.
