The Ministry of Internal Affairs proposed new rules for firearm ownership: what will change.
The Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs shared his thoughts on the possible adoption of Bill No. 5708, which aims to regulate the circulation of firearms in Ukraine.
This was reported by the Telegram channel of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine.
In an interview with the publication 'Mirror of the Week', Bohdan Drapiatyi noted that this bill sets the rules for obtaining, storing, transporting, and confiscating weapons, as well as defining the categories of weapons available to citizens.
According to the official, the introduction of civilized legislation will encourage citizens to voluntarily declare their weapons, as it will establish the main legal relationships at present and create prospects for their development in the future.
The Ministry of Internal Affairs proposes to delay this norm to ensure proper preparation of the infrastructure: equipping schools, hospitals, and government institutions with metal detectors, creating training shooting ranges, implementing a system of training and transparent exams. This is necessary to minimize risks.
Currently, certain types of weapons are legalized in Ukraine, but the question of expanding the rights to own short-barreled firearms under martial law remains complex.
Also, let us remind you: Ukraine will start producing rifles according to NATO standards.
