May frosts destroyed 10% of pear orchards: what to expect for buyers

According to inkorr.com: Farmers in Ukraine have gone through difficult times when they learned that due to the May frosts, pears this year may become a true luxury. The frosts damaged about 10% of the orchards in the Vinnytsia region. Although the overall harvest will be smaller, farmers hope for an increase in prices. In this area, the area of pear plantations is 250 hectares.

Situation in farms

At the premises of the 'Ivanivska Kalyna' farm in the village of Ivaniv, Khmilnyk district, the collection of pears is being completed. The orchard has been bearing fruit for the third consecutive year. Three varieties of pears are grown on an area of 14 hectares. Although the May frosts have caused some damage to the blossoms, specialists hope for an increase in prices due to the shortage of fruits.

Thus, Ukrainian farmers face new challenges due to the May frosts, which may lead to a shortage of pears in the market. However, they continue to try to collect at least a small portion of the harvest and hope for an increase in prices.

Adverse weather conditions have become a serious problem for Ukrainian farmers, but their hope for market changes may help preserve their farms. It is currently important to monitor the situation, as fruit prices can fluctuate significantly, depending on the further weather conditions and the overall market situation.
