In Ukraine, the school curriculum is being radically reformed: which subjects will be allowed to choose.
The Ministry of Education and Science plans to reform the profile secondary education starting from 2027
The main feature of the reform is that high school students will have the opportunity to independently shape their educational trajectory. According to the new learning model, students will be able to choose subjects within three thematic clusters: language and literature, STEM, and social and humanitarian areas. The reform provides for three levels of choice: the learning profile, subjects within the profile, and additional courses outside the profile. The learning process will be personalized and will depend on the interests and professional aspirations of the students.
Equal access to quality education for students
In the 10th grade, students will study mandatory subjects from all fields to understand different areas of knowledge and make an informed choice of their future profile. The number of mandatory subjects will decrease with each subsequent grade, while the number of elective subjects will increase. The reform will also ensure equal access to quality education for students, regardless of their place of residence. Schools will be able to offer various profiles, practical courses, and project-based learning.
