In Ukraine, the power outage schedule has been expanded: what consumers can expect on December 14.
Ukrenergo introduces a new power outage schedule
The company Ukrenergo has announced a significant expansion of the electricity outage schedule for December 14, 2024. With the updated scheme, several periods with varying intensity of restrictions are provided for residential consumers throughout the day.
From midnight to 1:00 PM, one queue of outages will be conducted; the hardest period is expected from 1:00 PM to 5:00 PM, when two queues will be applied. In the evening, from 5:00 PM to 10:00 PM, one queue will operate again. Industrial facilities and businesses will be restricted around the clock.
The reason for these measures is the damage to energy infrastructure due to Russian missile and drone attacks in November-December. The latest attack, the twelfth of the year, resulted in damage to facilities in several regions.
Electricity consumption remains at a consistently high level. According to Ukrenergo, on December 12, the evening consumption peak exceeded the previous day's figures by 1%.
Additionally, weather conditions are complicating the situation - due to ice and strong winds, 198 settlements were left without electricity in the morning across five regions: Kyiv, Chernihiv, Sumy, Cherkasy, and Kirovohrad.
To compensate for the deficit, electricity imports from five countries are planned: Poland, Romania, Slovakia, Hungary, and Moldova with a total volume of 13,447 MWh, with a maximum capacity of up to 1,098 MW in certain hours.
