Ukraine has tripled its weapons production in recent years - Prime Minister
Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal stated that weapons production in Ukraine has tripled in 2023 and doubled in the first 8 months of this year.
"In 2023, weapons production in Ukraine has tripled, and in the first 8 months of this year, we have doubled production from 2023 levels. So we are progressing. Drone production continues to grow. We have created a drone market, opening opportunities for business and enterprises. In addition, this year we have also focused on creating a drone armament market - our own munitions. Accordingly, over one million units of weapons have already been contracted this year. Domestic shell production is increasing - not only munitions for drones, but also we are working on producing our own artillery munitions. This is the most deficient position that we are seeking together with our partners around the world," said the prime minister.
According to Shmyhal, weapons production in Ukraine is developing with the help of international partners' funds, which also allows for the repair and maintenance of domestically produced military equipment.
"The first precedent already exists. Together with Denmark, such contracts have already been implemented, and we will continue to develop this direction where Ukrainian production receives partner funds, and partners buy Ukrainian-made weapons for the Ukrainian army. We simultaneously provide repair and maintenance of such equipment, which is much more beneficial and reliable for our military," said Shmyhal.
Moreover, the Ukrainian defense-industrial complex is actively collaborating with American, British, and European companies to create joint ventures both in Ukraine and abroad.
"New foreign enterprises in the defense-industrial complex are emerging, and their numbers are growing. There are already dozens. These are American, European, British, and other companies from around the world with whom active cooperation is already underway, not only based on joint contracts but also on the creation of joint ventures for production in Ukraine and production in neighboring countries, also based on the establishment of joint ventures with Ukrainians. The key task today is to seek resources," emphasized the prime minister.
According to Shmyhal, special attention is being paid to the development of our own long-range systems.
