In Ukraine, borscht set prices will soar: how the cost of vegetables will change.

Oleh Penzin, a member of the 'Economic Discussion Club', reported that the cost of vegetables for the borscht set in Ukraine may increase by one-third by the end of the year. This is due to the decline in income of the population, causing people to switch to more affordable potatoes and bread. The potato shortage also negatively impacted, as the harvest this year was smaller due to hot and dry weather. Over the past year, vegetable prices in Ukraine have risen by 36-37%. The known main components of the borscht set are beets, cabbage, carrots, onions, potatoes, tomatoes or tomato paste, garlic. Adding greens, lard or bacon, as well as sour cream is also a popular practice when preparing borscht.
