VAKS confiscated elite real estate of former head of the TSK: assets do not match salary.
Confiscation of elite real estate
According to Novyny.live: The High Anti-Corruption Court (VAKS) confiscated elite real estate from the former head of the Zaporizhia Regional TSK due to the discrepancy between assets and official income. The value of the confiscated property exceeds 3.8 million hryvnias, raising suspicions among law enforcement regarding the family's illegal way of life.
According to court information, the family spent their legal income mostly cashless; however, elite purchases were made in cash. This raised questions about the possibility of earning legally for a luxurious lifestyle, to which the court confirmed that such income could not be obtained legally. As a result, the confiscation of property was carried out for the benefit of the state budget.
Suspicions regarding customs officer and military personnel
Additionally, the case involves a customs officer from Odesa who is suspected of using shadow income to purchase a premium-class car worth over 2.7 million hryvnias. VAKS also confiscated elite foreign cars from the former acting head of the Kharkiv Regional Military Commissariat, with total purchase costs amounting to 4,850,170 hryvnias. These cases highlight the importance of monitoring the financial status of public officials.
These VAKS decisions demonstrate increasing attention to corruption risks in the public sector and the efforts of law enforcement to combat illegal income. The confiscation of property for the benefit of the state can be an important step in ensuring transparency and accountability among public officials. Such cases underline the need to strengthen control over the financial assets of officials, which may help prevent further corruption in Ukraine.
