The commander of the Ground Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine condemns the murders of military personnel

Mykhailo Drapatiy, the commander of the Ground Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, expressed his condemnation of the murders of military personnel from the territorial recruitment centers. He wrote about this on social media.

Murder of military personnel in the rear is a red line that cannot be crossed. We have no right to silently watch the growing wave of disdain for the defenders of Ukraine – this is beyond what can be tolerated. Everything does not happen suddenly. We have already seen cases of humiliation and aggression against our defenders, but I have not seen a strong reaction from society to this. Now we have direct armed attacks. This is how the enemy acts. They work with us and among us, while we are looking at who liked what – it is stated in the message.

Drapatiy emphasized that there are no justifications for the murder of a military personnel and the attack on the TSK.

Rapid and tough response from the authorities is the only possible response in the situation of lawlessness against the military. Without fair punishment for murderers, gloaters, and traitors, we will have even more killed comrades in the rear. In other cities. In other neighborhoods. At gas stations, in supermarkets, in entrances, on the streets we name after Heroes. If society tolerates these attacks, bad symptoms will become a diagnosis. I want to believe that at this point where we are now, this is not possible. Because the only thing separating us from the enemy is the Defense Forces of Ukraine, the Armed Forces. While we are losing our best people on the front, we must not lose our conscience in the rear.

Moreover, the commander added that 'disrespect for a person in pixels begins where dignity ends'.

We are obliged to respect those who have taken up arms and are defending our cities, the people in them, our borders, sky and land, our state, our flag, our home at the cost of their own lives.

Let us remind you, on February 1, at a gas station in the city of Pyriatyn, in Poltava region, during the escort of military personnel to the 199th training center, an unidentified person carried out an armed attack on a serviceman of the Poltava district territorial recruitment center and social support (RTC and SP).

An unidentified man in a gray balaclava and pixelated trousers approached the serviceman of the Poltava RTC and SP, threatening him with a hunting rifle, demanded to surrender his weapon. After receiving a refusal, the criminal shot the serviceman. As a result of severe injuries, the soldier died on the spot.

After the attack, the offender seized the serviceman's automatic weapon and fled along with one of the mobilized military personnel.

A special operation 'Siren' was introduced in the Poltava region.

Later, the police detained a man who shot the serviceman of the Poltava RTC with a shotgun at the gas station, seized his automatic weapon, and fled from the scene with an accomplice.
