Ukraine Broadens Access for Starlink Terminal Registration

According to TSN.ua: Individuals in Ukraine can now register their Starlink satellite internet terminals through a wider network of locations. The new options include Administrative Service Centers (ASCs), as well as branches of the 'Nova Poshta' and 'Ukrposhta' postal services. This expansion is designed to simplify the legalization process for users seeking to verify their devices. Starlink has been a critical tool for maintaining internet connectivity in Ukraine since the onset of the full-scale invasion.

How the Verification Process Works

The verification procedure involves a few straightforward steps. Individuals must prepare their terminal's data and present their passport along with their Taxpayer Registration Number (TRN). After submitting an application at one of the designated points, it will be processed within 48 hours. However, officials note that high demand may lead to processing delays.

This streamlined process also applies to military personnel, aiming to facilitate their access to Starlink services. Recent reports, however, have raised public concern, indicating that Russian occupying forces have attempted to manipulate equipment registration using the families of Ukrainian prisoners of war.

These new verification channels provide Ukrainian citizens with a more convenient way to confirm the legality of their devices, thereby easing access to vital communication services. The changes represent a significant step in ensuring stable connectivity for civilians and the military amid the ongoing conflict. The attempted registration fraud underscores the continued need for stringent oversight and security measures in this domain, requiring ongoing vigilance from authorities and the public.
