The legal liability for fire safety breaches varies depending on where the offense occurs. Below are the fines applicable to individuals and officials:
- Forests:
- Citizens: from 1,530 to 4,590 UAH
- Officials: from 4,590 to 15,300 UAH
- Agricultural Lands:
- Citizens: from 3,060 to 6,120 UAH
- Officials: from 21,420 to 30,600 UAH
- Nature Reserves and Protected Areas:
- Citizens: from 6,120 to 12,240 UAH
- Officials: from 21,420 to 30,600 UAH
In certain cases, breaking the law can result in even harsher penalties. Destroying or damaging forests through the burning of dry vegetation carries a fine ranging from 91,800 to 153,000 UAH. Additionally, such acts may lead to restricted freedom for 2 to 5 years. If the arson results in loss of life, the punishment can be imprisonment for 5 to 10 years.
