Revised Terms for the 'eOselia' Housing Initiative

According to Novyny.live: Ukraine's Cabinet of Ministers has announced updated conditions for the 'eOselia' program, designed to support veterans and the families of fallen heroes. Starting next month, eligible individuals will qualify for a preferential mortgage with a fixed 3% interest rate for the first decade. After that ten-year period, the rate will increase to 6%. This policy aims to make homeownership more accessible for those who have sacrificed for their country.

Under Ukraine's Law 'On the Status of War Veterans and Guarantees of Their Social Protection,' specific groups—including war veterans and immediate family members of deceased heroes—are entitled to participate in the 'eOselia' mortgage scheme. The revised terms reflect the government's commitment to easing housing access for these individuals, helping them transition to civilian life amid the ongoing conflict.

Housing Size Limits

The 'eOselia' program also sets maximum square footage for properties purchased under the subsidized mortgage:

  • For a single person, the allowable limit is 52.5 square meters.
  • For a household of two or three people, the maximum is 73.5 square meters.
  • For families with more than three members, an additional 21 square meters is permitted for each extra person, with a total cap of 115.5 square meters.
  • For standalone houses:
    • One person: 62.5 square meters.
    • Two or three people: 83.5 square meters.
    • Similar additional 21 square meters per extra household member, not exceeding 125.5 square meters.

Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenko emphasized the significance of these adjustments for bolstering support to veterans and their families.

The 'eOselia' program changes underscore the Ukrainian government's dedication to social welfare for veterans and their relatives, particularly crucial given the country's prolonged war. The reduced mortgage rate could provide substantial relief for those in need of housing, potentially aiding their reintegration into civilian life after military service. It also reaffirms the state's obligation to ensure dignified living conditions for individuals defending Ukraine's sovereignty and territorial integrity.
