Elections provoked a high level of stress among American citizens – survey.
According to a survey by the American Psychological Association, the majority of Americans experience stress related to the presidential elections in the USA. CBS News reports this.
More than 3.3 thousand adults aged 18+ participated in the survey. Of them, 69% said they are "in a state of stress" in anticipation of the elections.
Among the main factors mentioned is the future of the nation, which worries 77% of respondents.
More than 70% are concerned about possible violence during or after the elections. More than half are worried that these elections could signify the end of democracy.
Despite the stress, more than 60% of respondents feel hopeful about changes related to the elections.
It is noted that stress can be reduced both by "engaging in the political process" and by limiting the amount of information received.
On November 5, the presidential elections will be held in the USA. Initially, they were supposed to be a rematch between Democrat Joe Biden and Republican Donald Trump, who already ran for president in 2020. But in July, the situation changed: Biden dropped out of the race and supported Vice President Kamala Harris.
Previously, US presidential candidate Kamala Harris expressed doubts about her opponent Donald Trump's ability to fulfill duties in the White House. This happened after he canceled several campaign events.
By the way, former US President and Republican Party candidate Donald Trump, in case of losing the upcoming elections, may attempt to challenge their results. This is reported by Politico newspaper citing sources.
