According to ITC.ua — Техно: Just five minutes into playing Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced, a user’s ZOTAC GeForce RTX 5090 SOLID graphics card reportedly failed. The gamer heard a loud bang and crackling sounds, then noticed smoke coming from the device.

Visible damage was found near the PCIe slot, according to further reports. The card had been in use for about a year and showed dark marks both on the card itself and around the main PCIe slot. The 12V-2×6 power connector, however, remained undamaged.
The installed NVIDIA GeForce driver version 610.74, dated July 7, may point to potential compatibility or software quality issues. The system setup included an MSI X870E Tomahawk motherboard.
This event highlights the possible risks linked to high-end graphics cards during gaming and underscores the need to monitor hardware condition while in use.
