Apple’s M7 Ultra Chip Targets NVIDIA H100-Level Performance.
Apple’s Upcoming M7 Processor Lineup
According to ITC.ua — Техно: Apple is preparing a new M7 series of processors built specifically for artificial intelligence workloads, with performance expected to rival that of NVIDIA’s H100. The flagship M7 Ultra model combines two M7 Max dies using the UltraFusion interconnect, achieving a bandwidth of up to 800 GB/s. This next-generation lineup promises substantial improvements in data processing, potentially boosting efficiency when handling large AI models.
What the New Chip Can Do
Thanks to its architecture and high bandwidth, the M7 Ultra will enable users to run models with 70 billion parameters—a major milestone for standalone devices. This is especially relevant for machines like the MacBook Pro equipped with the M7 Max, which, due to energy efficiency, can handle complex tasks without requiring a constant network connection.
NVIDIA currently controls over 80% of the AI accelerator market, offering products like the H100, which starts at $30,000 per card. While NVIDIA remains dominant, Apple’s new processors could shift the landscape, particularly in segments where high performance and energy efficiency are critical.
In the ongoing competition between Apple and NVIDIA, the M7 chips represent a significant step for Apple in vying for AI market share—though NVIDIA has little reason to panic just yet. Still, tracking Apple’s technological progress has become increasingly important for a company already leading in this space.
The launch of Apple’s M7 processor series could substantially reshape the AI market as the company seeks to reduce its reliance on NVIDIA, which currently dominates the field. The high performance and energy efficiency of the new chips may attract developers and businesses working with big data and AI, potentially altering the competitive landscape in the near future.
