Kyivstar changes the rules for SIM card recovery: how much it costs now.

Losing a SIM card is an unpleasant situation, as it is impossible to use mobile communication, the internet, or receive important SMS messages without it. For Kyivstar subscribers, the procedure for recovering a number is quite simple, but before contacting the operator, it is worth knowing how much this service costs, what documents will be needed, and how the process goes.

The mobile operator 'Kyivstar' offers two main ways to recover a number - independently or through stores. Each of these options has its own features and costs.

This option, as explained on Kyivstar's official website, is available only for subscribers who use the operator's services on a prepaid basis. To independently recover a SIM card, you need to take the following steps:

• Purchase a Smart SIM - 100 UAH.
• Activate the new card through the USSD code *111#.
• Send a request *245*380(XX)XXXXXXX*YYYYYY#, where 380XXXXXXXXX is your phone number, and YYYYYY is 8 digits of PUK1 of the old SIM or 19 digits of ICC.

The number should be restored within 7 hours - Kyivstar will send an SMS about this.

The SIM card recovery service in the operator's stores is available for both prepaid subscribers and contract customers. The cost of non-warranty replacement of a SIM in the store is 50 UAH.

Prepaid subscribers need to provide the store employee with:their Ukrainian citizen passport - if the number is registered;data on the card being restored - if the number was not registered.

In the case of contract servicing, to replace a SIM card in a Kyivstar store, you need to have documents (passport, TIN) or a phone with the 'Dія' app installed with you.

In some cases, Kyivstar also offers a free replacement for a USIM 4G, for example, if the SIM cards are not read by the phone, or when switching from a physical SIM to an eSIM.
