Ukraine is facing a decrease in cucumber prices, even in the winter period when they usually cost more. Sellers are forced to lower prices due to low demand. Currently, the price for a kilogram of greenhouse cucumbers is on average 80-110 hryvnias, which is 11% cheaper than a week ago. This price drop is unusual for December and indicates an oversupply situation.
Market operators explain this pricing situation by indicating that wholesale companies and retail chains are purchasing fewer large batches of cucumbers due to low retail sales rates. As a result, unrealized products have accumulated in the companies' warehouses, and their quality is deteriorating.
According to analysts, even with the price decrease, greenhouse cucumbers in Ukraine are 21% more expensive than during the same period last year.
Most market operators believe that this situation is temporary and prices will rise again in this segment soon.
A warning about shocking price increases for products for Ukrainians was previously presented.
