No Troop Buildup on Belarus Border, but Threat Remains High: Key Details.
Current State of the Ukraine-Belarus Border
According to Espreso.tv: Andriy Demchenko, spokesperson for Ukraine's State Border Guard Service, has confirmed that there is no massing of military forces along the border with Belarus. Still, he stressed that tensions persist due to regular military drills conducted by Belarus on its own soil. According to Demchenko,
“the overall threat level from Belarus remains unchanged.”
Demchenko further noted that Belarus continues to operate under Russia’s influence, effectively aiding Moscow’s aggression against Ukraine. He pointed to the establishment of a new Southern Operational Command by Belarus, designed to coordinate actions along the border with Ukraine. This development signals ongoing military activity and preparation by the Belarusian authorities.
Growing Issues in Occupied Crimea
Meanwhile, in the temporarily occupied Crimean Peninsula, problems with fuel supplies, military logistics, and command are deepening. The situation in the region remains difficult, and Russia’s pressure on Belarus shows no signs of easing, raising concerns among military experts and analysts.
The absence of a troop concentration on the Belarusian border might suggest a degree of stability in that direction. However, frequent military exercises and Russia’s sway over Belarus continue to elevate risks. Military and political analysts therefore urge vigilance, as the situation could shift at any moment. This also underscores the critical need to monitor military activities in the region to safeguard Ukraine’s national security.
