Discharge Payments for Ukrainian Armed Forces Personnel

According to Novyny.live: Ukrainian service members who are discharged from the Armed Forces are entitled to a special state payment. The amount is calculated based on their monthly military salary during service. This applies to both contract soldiers and mobilized personnel.

For mobilized personnel, a one-time financial assistance payment is set at 4 percent of their monthly salary for each full calendar month served. However, this final sum cannot be less than 25 percent of their base monthly salary, excluding bonuses. The Ukrainian Ministry of Defense has confirmed this policy, stating:

'Military personnel who were called up for service during mobilization, for a special period, or from the reserves during a special period, and are subsequently discharged, receive a one-time financial assistance payment of 4 percent of their monthly salary for each full calendar month of service. This amount cannot be less than 25 percent of their monthly salary, excluding bonuses.'

This financial support is part of the country's broader social safety net for veterans, which has become increasingly vital. The discharge age for enlisted and non-commissioned officers to enter the reserve is 60. Those who reach the maximum age for service are discharged into retirement. Personnel planning to be discharged must submit a written report to their unit commander and provide notarized copies of documents confirming their eligibility for release.

In summary, service members concluding their duty with the Armed Forces of Ukraine can expect state financial aid to assist their transition to civilian life. This initiative highlights government efforts to provide for military personnel and their families, a significant consideration given the ongoing national challenges. Ensuring this monetary assistance can substantially ease veterans' adaptation to post-service conditions.
