Trump did not fulfill his promises about the war in Ukraine

On January 20, Donald Trump became the 47th President of the United States. But for Ukrainians, this means the beginning of a new wave of disappointments, especially regarding the war in Ukraine. Serhiy Rudyk, a serviceman of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, shared his thoughts on this topic.

According to him, Ukrainians should not hope for a swift end to the war as promised by Trump. Rudyk noted that the President's policies can be very harsh and based on self-interests.

«Hence the attitude towards Europe in the format of «pay for yourself», and «how much is Greenland worth?», and «give Panama back». Therefore, Trump's business logic may be to resolve the war issue, but not by upholding the principles of justice and the interests of Ukraine», - he wrote.

Serhiy Rudyk emphasized that Trump's promise to end the war in 24 hours has transformed into 100 days. And it is likely that similar promises could be postponed for an even longer period.

«Therefore, the main task for our leaders now is not to wait, but to actively engage in preparations for a prolonged war», - Rudyk wrote.

According to him, Ukraine must strengthen its defense capabilities and prepare for possible military actions. At the same Time, he stressed that we are responsible for our own security.

It is worth mentioning that during his inaugural speech, Trump referred to the beginning of a «golden age of America», but did not mention Ukraine. According to CNN, the U.S. president stated: «We will measure our success not only by victories but also by resolved conflicts, and most importantly - wars in which we never participate».

This statement is most closely related to the mention of Ukraine, which was an important aspect of his foreign policy. During the election campaign, Trump promised to end the war by his inauguration, and later stated its cessation within 6 months.
