Military pensions to be recalculated: when combat rewards will start to be considered
The increase in pension provision for military personnel in Ukraine may become a reality thanks to a bill registered in the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine (VRU). The initiative proposes changes to the calculation rules for payments and the inclusion of one-time rewards in determining the amount of pensions.

Bill No. 13461 proposes to include one-time rewards received by military personnel during martial law in the calculation of pensions. The authors of the document insist on the need to increase pension amounts for military personnel who defend the country's independence, including such persons as People's Deputy Yulia Tymoshenko.

Current legislation does not provide for the inclusion of one-time rewards in determining the amount of pensions, although they can be accrued to military personnel during the period of martial law according to the law. Therefore, military personnel who received rewards for performing special tasks need an increase in pension provision, according to the authors of the bill.

When it is proposed to recalculate pensions for military personnel

The bill provides for the inclusion of the amount of rewards received by military personnel during martial law when determining the amount of pensions. It also provides for the recalculation of pensions without taking into account rewards for performing special tasks.

The adoption of the bill will allow for the application of new norms starting September 1, 2025. Currently, the document has been forwarded for review to the relevant committee.

Ukrainian military personnel who participate in defending the country may receive an increase in pension provision due to the bill, which includes the consideration of one-time rewards in the calculations. This will help address funding and support issues for our fighters who give their lives for our safety.
