InPost faced a massive scandal: Vinted customers' parcels got stuck for days

According to The Sun: Vinted customers are facing serious delays in shipping and receiving orders due to delivery issues from InPost.

Consumers report that their parcels are stuck for several days or even 'disappear' without any means to track them.

Vinted sellers often use InPost terminals to send parcels, but currently, they are facing significant delays.

Some noted that their goods were marked as delivered, although they never received them or all InPost terminals in their area were full.

The InPost service allows parcels to be left in secure automated terminals located in supermarkets and gas stations.

Courier companies pick up these parcels for delivery either to another terminal or directly to the recipient.

InPost has already reported that it is taking measures to resolve the issue, which they link to 'technical difficulties with software integration.'

Thousands of customers are expressing their dissatisfaction on social media due to these delays.

“I have lost 15 parcels since September 12!!! Terrible service, fix it,” wrote one person.
“Absolutely helpless, how can you call yourself a delivery service if you can't deliver parcels. 11 and 12 days since shipping. Absolutely ridiculous,” said another.
“InPost you're heading for disappointment. I sent my parcel last Monday, and it still hasn't left the terminal I put it in,” confirmed a third.
“This is insane. Please confirm you haven't lost this parcel,” added another customer.

Initially, customers were informed that the issue was expected to be resolved by Wednesday, but some are still waiting.

A customer service representative explained that part of the parcels is in warehouses due to an accumulation of orders.

He stated to The Sun: “We want to apologize to all customers affected by the software integration issue that caused delays in our network. We are quickly addressing this issue.”

The company now claims that 'all terminals are fully operational,' and they are confident in improving the situation.

Vinted sellers often use InPost to send their parcels, which is also available on eBay and Depop.

InPost acquired the parcel delivery company Yodel in May, emphasizing that this will help create one of the largest logistics companies in the UK.

InPost UK CEO Neil Kushal noted that the deal will enable handling over 300 million parcels a year and 'reshape the future of parcel delivery.'

New Vinted rules to know

If you plan to clear out your wardrobe and get rid of old items on Vinted, be aware of the new rules that have recently come into effect.

  • If you are selling personal items for a lower price than new (which often happens with second-hand items), it will not affect taxes.
  • However, starting January 1, digital platforms including eBay, Airbnb, Etsy, Amazon, and Vinted must provide seller information to HMRC.
  • This is unlikely to affect you if you are selling just a few old items a year—usually, tax is paid only by business sellers trading for profit.
  • The tax threshold of £1,000 applies from 2017 for business sellers with profit—the only time personal property could be taxed is if sold for over £6,000.
  • However, companies must now pass your data to HMRC if you sell 30 or more items in a year or earn over £1,700.
  • This is part of a broader tax crackdown aimed at ensuring that those increasing their income through side work pay the due taxes.
  • If you earn between £1,000 and £1,700, your data is not passed to HMRC, but you still need to pay tax as usual.
Director of InPost UK Neil Kushal clarified that the company is working to resolve technical issues to restore its reputation more quickly. Delivery delays have caused significant resonance among users, and the company has committed to focus on improving customer service. This highlights the importance of reliability in the delivery sector, where competition is steadily increasing.
