Judge Ljudmila Arestova has been dismissed from office for obtaining Russian citizenship

The High Council of Justice of the Ukrainian panel has made the decision to dismiss judge Ljudmila Arestova from office. The head of the High Council of Justice, Hryhoriy Usik, reported this. An investigation by journalists regarding Arestova's acquisition of a Russian passport became the basis for this decision. This information was also confirmed by the Security Service of Ukraine. According to Article 126 of the Constitution of Ukraine, a judge loses their status if they acquire citizenship of another country.

Journalists found confirmation of Arestova's Russian citizenship

With the help of the Russian Tax Service website, journalists were able to find the taxpayer identification number associated with the Russian citizen Ljudmila Arestova's passport. There was also confirmation of her use of a Russian passport.

Arestova denies having Russian citizenship

Ljudmila Arestova herself claims that she has not obtained Russian citizenship. According to her, she was only registered in Crimea when it was under Ukrainian control. All citizens residing on the peninsula during the annexation received similar passports.

The issue of citizens with passports from other countries has become a serious threat to national security and statehood, as approximately 4 million Ukrainians hold Russian citizenship.
