Vasyl Maliuk rejected the offer to resign as head of the Security Service of Ukraine: high-ranking commanders warn.
According to ТСН: People's Deputy Yaroslav Zheleznyak reported that the head of the Security Service of Ukraine, Vasyl Maliuk, was allegedly offered to write a resignation letter and take the position of head of the Foreign Intelligence Service. He was also offered to become the secretary of the National Security and Defense Council. According to Zheleznyak, Maliuk rejected both options and insists on continuing his work at the SBU.
Biletsky on replacing Maliuk
Commander of the Third Assault Brigade Andriy Biletsky positively assesses the personnel changes in the national security sector but warns against potential changes in the leadership of the SBU. He noted:
“I positively evaluate the package of personnel decisions in the national security and defense sector — these are important signals for the front. At the same time, I am seriously concerned about the information regarding the possible replacement of the head of the SBU. Vasyl Maliuk is not just the head of an effective counterintelligence agency. He has transformed the Security Service of Ukraine into one of the key strategic factors of the war.”
In his opinion, replacing Maliuk could weaken one of the most effective elements of the Ukrainian military machine.
Madyar on the head of the SBU
Commander of the Unmanned Systems Forces Robert “Madyar” Brovdi also expressed his views on the possible replacement of the head of the SBU. He noted:
“The rhythm, quality, and specific weight of the crushing blows against the enemy executed by the Security Service of Ukraine under the leadership of General Maliuk are unprecedented and unique in terms of pace and daily effectiveness. Regardless of which of the proposed power structures Mr. Maliuk could potentially be effective in, the personnel decisions regarding the replacement of the head of the Service today pose a risk.”
He emphasized that Commander Maliuk is in his place and is an authority among his subordinates.
Drapaty on the work of the SBU
Commander of the Joint Forces Group Mykhailo Drapaty emphasized the importance of the Security Service of Ukraine's work in strengthening the country's defense capability:
“The effectiveness of the head of the Service is measured not by the publicity of operations, but by the level of internal security and its impact on the enemy's combat capability. The results of this work are felt both on the battlefield and in the rear.”
He highlighted the systematic interaction with the SBU.
Prokopenko on meeting Maliuk
Commander of the 1st Corps of the National Guard “Azov” Colonel Denys Prokopenko recounted his first meeting with Vasyl Maliuk. He emphasized the competence and personal courage of the general:
“I was pleasantly surprised that he asked professional questions about military affairs that seemingly did not fall within his area of expertise.”
Prokopenko also noted that Maliuk's approach allows the SBU to successfully perform its tasks in wartime.
- professionalism: immersion in the complex work of subordinates;
- management: undisputed authority among the personnel;
- result: work at a high level.
“For our country, it is a great fortune to have such a competent and devoted leader of the SBU during war,” concluded “Redis.”
This situation demonstrates the importance of stability in the leadership of the Security Service of Ukraine in wartime. Many experts and military personnel are trying to convey that changing the head at such a responsible time could lead to negative consequences for national security. The Security Service under the leadership of Vasyl Maliuk has established itself as one of the key elements of Ukraine's defense strategy, and its continuation within the same framework could be decisive in the fight against the aggressor.
