Water hourly and tariffs as in Poland: Ukrainians may be switched to hourly water supply.
Ukrainian water utilities on the brink of collapse due to debts for electricity
Head of the Union of Consumers of Utilities of Ukraine Oleg Popenko reported that debts for electricity in Ukrainian water utilities have accumulated to 11.5 billion hryvnias. This crisis situation could lead to restrictions on water supply in some cities of the country, threatening a social catastrophe.
The debts of water utilities for electricity alone amount to 11.5 billion hryvnias. The situation in water utilities is very difficult. Tariffs have not been increased, funds for modernization are extremely limited, and financial resources are insufficient.
According to the expert, the situation is complicated by the fact that water utilities are strategically important enterprises. Stopping their operation for a few days can lead to serious problems for city residents.
Financial difficulties and quality of services
In recent years, the cost of water utility services has increased 12 times, but the quality of water remains unchanged. The problem lies not only in the financial difficulties of water utilities but also in the population's ability to pay amid the war.
The expert called for a comprehensive approach to solving the problems of water utilities that would take into account both their financial needs and the capabilities of the population.
