Drivers in Ukraine Await Blow from Trump Tariffs: What Prices Will Rise.
US President Donald Trump plans to impose new tariffs on imported cars, which may negatively affect not only American consumers but also Ukrainian ones. This was reported by Yuriy Haidai, a senior economist at the Center for Economic Strategy.
According to the expert, about half of the components for American cars are produced abroad, particularly in China, Mexico, and EU countries. The introduction of new tariffs will lead to an increase in the price of these parts in the US domestic market.
Since Ukraine imports many goods from the US, prices for cars and their parts in Ukraine will also rise. American sellers will set prices in the Ukrainian market at levels equal to or even higher than in the US.
According to Haidai, a decrease in demand in the American market may lead to the relocation of some automotive production to other countries, including Ukraine. This could create opportunities for temporary price reductions on some niche products, such as models that are not popular in the US or specific spare parts.
It was previously reported that Trump exempted certain goods from tariffs.
