Trump boycotts G20 in South Africa: South Africa to be excluded from the 2026 summit.
According to ТСН: U.S. President Donald Trump announced that the United States has decided to boycott the recent G20 summit in the Republic of South Africa due to "horrific human rights violations." He also noted that South Africa will not be invited to the next "G20" summit scheduled for 2026 in Florida.
Trump wrote about this on his social media platform Truth Social. He emphasized that there are persecutions occurring in the country against "Afrikaners and other descendants of Dutch, French, and German settlers."
"To put it simply, they are killing white people and randomly allowing them to seize their farms," Trump stated.
The U.S. President also reported that he instructed not to send invitations to South Africa for the G20 summit in 2026, which will take place "in the great city of Miami, Florida." He added that "we are going to immediately stop all payments and subsidies to them."
If South Africa is indeed unable to participate in the G20 summit in 2026, it will mark the first instance of a country being excluded from the membership of the "G20" among the leading economies of the world.
About G20
The G20 is an international forum that brings together developed and developing countries, representing about 80% of the world's GDP and two-thirds of the planet's population. The main aim of the forum is to coordinate global economic policy.
The Republic of South Africa has been a full member of the G20 since 1999 and is the only African country in this group.
It is worth noting that Trump had previously stated his refusal to participate in the G20 summit held in the capital of South Africa, Johannesburg. During a speech at an economic forum in Miami, he expressed the opinion that the Republic of South Africa should not be part of the G20.
The situation surrounding the participation of the Republic of South Africa in the G20 is likely to affect international relations, as this forum is an important platform for discussing economic issues. Trump's allegations regarding human rights violations in South Africa may serve as a catalyst for further discussions about ethics and politics in the global community.
