History of World Children's Day

World Children's Day was established in the middle of the last century. In 1954, the UN General Assembly adopted Resolution No. 836 (IX), which suggested that countries celebrate this day starting from 1956.

Initially, each country had the right to choose the date of celebration. In the USSR and other countries, International Children's Day was created, which is celebrated on June 1.

In 1959, the 'Declaration of the Rights of the Child' was adopted, and in 1989 - the 'Convention on the Rights of the Child', which established November 20 as the official date of celebration in UN documents.

The purpose of this day is to draw the attention of society, organizations, and governments to the issues related to ensuring the well-being of children worldwide.
