Ukraine faces uncertainty about future security following President Volodymyr Zelensky's visit to the US. The results of this visit remained uncertain, reports The Washington Post.

Lately, the details of Zelensky's "victory plan" regarding the end of the war with Russia remain inaccessible to the public. Ukraine needs international support, but it seeks it at the last moment, just a month before the US elections.

Zelensky's administration keeps the content of the "victory plan" secret, which was disclosed to President Joe Biden and other American officials. It likely considers issues of accelerated NATO membership and securing mandatory security guarantees from Western partners.

Nobody plans to abandon Ukraine, but Ukraine certainly does not rank among the top three issues for the US now - Mykola Davydiuk, Kyiv political expert.

Zelensky's team hoped for US support regarding the victory plan, but Biden did not change his positions on bans on supplying Ukraine with longer-range missiles for strikes on Russia. Many influential Republicans criticized or ignored Zelensky.

A meeting with Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump was hastily scheduled after it initially appeared that Trump was not going to meet. Nevertheless, it was held.

Zelensky's trip to the US highlighted Ukraine's uncertain position, which relies on the US as its main ally in supplying weapons against Russia, but is unsure of the long-term support due to waning attention to the war and the emergence of new conflicts in the Middle East.

NATO's Western countries are considering providing Ukraine with more concrete steps regarding alliance membership, but these measures may be insufficient for the immediate actions that Kyiv demands.

Ukrainian officials are concerned that the upcoming US presidential elections and a new administration may not support Ukraine in the security sphere. Zelensky's team tried to use the victory plan as a way to secure Biden's successes by the end of his term. However, the White House withstands political pressure and refrains from risky steps to avoid negative impacts on Kamala Harris's campaign, officials said.

Many ordinary Ukrainians are more receptive to compromises on territorial integrity in a deal with Russia if it is accompanied by NATO membership or security guarantees from allies. However, public sentiment has shifted due to the difficulties Ukraine has faced at the front, as well as energy disruptions caused by Russia.

Ukraine continues to lose positions in the east of the country, and the war has reached a stalemate. Therefore, the support of Western partners has also weakened.

Zelensky hopes for greater support from allies but receives limited assistance. Western countries intend to provide Ukraine with support, but this may not be enough to achieve victory in the full sense of the word.
