Russia Targets Ukrainian Energy Grid in Major Week-Long Barrage.
Russia's Latest Assault on Ukraine
According to UATV: In a sustained offensive, Russian forces launched a massive barrage against Ukraine over a one-week period, firing approximately 1,300 attack drones, over 1,200 guided aerial bombs, and 50 missiles, most of which were ballistic. The strikes, which occurred overnight on February 15, targeted the Odesa, Donetsk, Zaporizhzhia, and Sumy regions. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated that these attacks are part of a deliberate strategy to cripple the nation's critical infrastructure, noting:
“As before, the primary target of these strikes is the energy sector.”
Infrastructure Recovery and International Aid
Despite the relentless attacks, recovery efforts for Ukraine's damaged infrastructure continue. The Ukrainian government is actively working to secure the necessary resources for these repairs. President Zelenskyy expressed gratitude for the support from international partners, emphasizing:
“I am grateful to our partners for their readiness to help, and we expect all deliveries to arrive promptly.”
The international community maintains its support for Ukraine, with recent meetings in Munich resulting in agreements for new aid packages. This assistance is a critical component in helping Ukraine withstand the ongoing assault on its energy grid and civilian infrastructure. The situation remains severe, highlighting the strategic importance of Russia's campaign to disrupt Ukraine's power supply and the urgent need for sustained defensive aid. The Ukrainian government prioritizes infrastructure restoration, and coordinated efforts with allies are vital for national resilience against this escalating aggression.
