On August 9, Donald Trump's ultimatum to Russia will expire. If Putin does not approve a ceasefire in Ukraine, Trump promises to impose new, stricter sanctions against Russia.
Public reaction to Trump's statement
Journalists from the Novyny.LIVE portal surveyed residents of Lviv regarding the likelihood of increasing sanctions against Russia.
The majority of respondents view Trump's statement with skepticism. People believe that this is merely a political game, not real actions that can change the situation. Some even say that these are just empty promises without consequences. Others think that even if sanctions are imposed, their impact may be negligible in the near future.
Some residents believe that Trump will not rush to act against Russia, even if he promised a quick end to the war. Others think that the main thing is to stop the conflict, and if sanctions help in this, then they are justified. One man believes that the potential increase in sanctions will not significantly affect ordinary people.
One woman sharply expresses her outrage and claims that all these talks and promises have been going on for too long, and so far they only serve to protect their own interests.
Recall that earlier we wrote about how Trump responded to India regarding funding the Russian army. We also considered the possible consequences of sanctions against Russia for China.
In conclusion, the citizens of Lviv regard Trump's statements about increasing sanctions against Russia with a certain skepticism, considering it more political rhetoric than real actions that can help stop the conflict in eastern Ukraine.Read also
