The death of half the population is not a victory: Pavel commented on the end of the war with Russia.

The President of the Czech Republic, Petr Pavel, made comments regarding recent discussions about the situation in Ukraine. He emphasized that his position does not change and corresponds to what he has said before.
Pavel said this in New York on Tuesday, September 24, reports the Czech News Agency.
The President of the Czech Republic mentioned his speech at the Munich Security Conference last year, where he warned against overly optimistic forecasts regarding the end of the war in Ukraine in the near future. He believed it was important to look at the situation realistically.
"I have never questioned the need to support Ukraine in restoring its territorial integrity. This remains our ultimate goal. But we must understand the Time constraints and the cost of achieving this goal," Pavel stated.
Particular attention is deserved by such a quote from the President of the Czech Republic:
"Victory over Russia in Ukraine, if it means destroying half of the Ukrainian population, probably is not a victory".
Let us recall that in an earlier interview with The New York Times, Pavel expressed the opinion that Russia might temporarily control some Ukrainian territories after the war ends. This statement caused a sharp reaction from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, which unequivocally rejected the idea of "half measures".
