Legally went abroad but did not return: a lawyer explained the risks and consequences for conscripts.

Ukrainian conscripts who left abroad with a deferment risk serious consequences if they do not return in Time. Lawyer Liliya Kalashnikova explained on Novyny.LIVE the possible consequences for those who remain abroad after their deferment ends.
Consequences for conscripts after losing the right to deferment
If a conscript legally left for abroad but loses the right to deferment upon returning to Ukraine, he may be mobilized on general grounds. This applies to parents of multiple children whose children have already reached adulthood.
There are no fines or other administrative sanctions for merely being abroad after the deferment ends. However, this is only provided that the conscript informed the Military Registration and Enlistment Office about his whereabouts and did not receive summons during his absence from Ukraine.
Administrative liability cannot be avoided if a conscript who was abroad received summons at his registered address but did not appear due to his absence and did not inform about his whereabouts. In case of violation, a fine may be imposed, and if it is not paid, the accounts may be blocked, the lawyer explained.
Responsibility of relatives of conscripts
It should be remembered that the relatives of conscripts are only responsible for themselves. 'Family members are not responsible for war participants who did not return to Ukraine after the deferment ended,' emphasized Liliya Kalashnikova. Even if the conscript did not inform the Military Registration and Enlistment Office about his absence and did not take the summons, the responsibility lies only on him.
Legal stay abroad of a Ukrainian conscript may lead to mobilization in case of losing the right to deferment. Relatives of the conscript are not responsible for his actions, even if he did not return on time and did not notify military enlistment offices about his absence. All risks and consequences fall on the conscript himself.
Conscripts who left for abroad with a deferment may be mobilized on general grounds after returning to Ukraine. The responsibility for the absence of the conscript during the deferment lies with the conscript himself; relatives cannot be held accountable for his actions.
