Ukraine's Former Top Commander Calls for Tech-Driven Mobilization Over Traditional Methods.
Ukraine Considers a New Mobilization Strategy
According to TSN.ua: Valeriy Zaluzhnyi, the former Commander-in-Chief of Ukraine's Armed Forces, has stated that conventional mobilization tactics are no longer effective in modern warfare. He advocates for a shift toward technological and economic mobilization to secure an advantage over the enemy. Zaluzhnyi emphasized that
"the experience of both Russia and our own shows that the traditional approach to mobilization in modern war has completely exhausted itself."
Adapting to the Realities of Modern Combat
Zaluzhnyi argues that in contemporary warfare, a model of combat that trades soldiers' lives for tactical gains is neither logical nor a viable option. He stresses the critical importance of integrating new technologies into military operations, noting that
"modern robotic systems are already performing not just auxiliary tasks, but are taking part in assaults and can even capture enemy soldiers."This shift reflects a global trend where unmanned systems are reshaping battlefield dynamics.
In parallel with these statements, Ukraine's Ministry of Defense is preparing a large-scale reform of its recruitment and service systems, aiming to adapt to the new conditions of warfare. President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has also expressed support for potentially replacing traditional mobilization with a contract-based service model. He stated that
"the state is ready to replace mobilization with contract service, provided there is sufficient funding."
Consequently, Ukrainian authorities are actively seeking alternative approaches to mobilization in response to the modern challenges posed by the ongoing conflict. Zaluzhnyi urges the active deployment of technology and economic resources to bolster defense effectiveness, alongside a comprehensive reform of military recruitment. The implementation of these initiatives could fundamentally reshape Ukraine's military strategy, enhancing its capacity to respond to threats and adapt to the evolving nature of combat.
