Attempt on Trump: International Legion of the Armed Forces of Ukraine commented on rumors about connections with the suspect.

American Ryan Wesley Ruth had no connection to the International Legion of the Armed Forces of Ukraine

American Ryan Wesley Ruth, suspected of attempting to assassinate former U.S. President Donald Trump, had no connection to the International Legion of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. This was stated by a spokesman for the unit in a comment to the BBC.

The Legion representative refuted Ruth's claims that he allegedly recruited fighters on a volunteer basis.

«We would like to explain that Ryan Wesley Ruth was never part of the International Legion, did not cooperate with it, and was not associated with it in any way. Any statements or assumptions to the contrary are absolutely inaccurate», – emphasized the spokesman.

Volunteer of the humanitarian project Phoenix Chris Lutz, who met Ruth several times in Kyiv in 2022, explained to the publication that he really wanted to help Ukraine but «was doing it in an unhealthy way».

«I would not call him crazy. He was just too focused. He was trying to do everything possible to help Ukraine. But it reached an unhealthy level… He also did not have the rights or authority to recruit for the Ukrainian international legion», – noted the volunteer.

Recall, yesterday it became known that shots were fired near the U.S. presidential candidate Donald Trump. He is now in a safe place. New York Post wrote that Trump was not in any danger; the shooting occurred in an area outside the club known for its high crime rate.

Later, Trump reacted to the attempt. «Shots were heard close to me. Before rumors start to get out of control, I would like you to hear it first: I am safe and healthy! Nothing will stop me. I will never give up. I will always love you for supporting me», – said in his statement.

The FBI considers the shooting a possible attempt on Trump's life. The U.S. Secret Service confirmed that its agent opened fire on an armed suspect at the golf club where Trump was present.

The suspect in the possible attempt on Trump is 58-year-old Ryan Wesley Ruth. During the arrest, two backpacks and a GoPro camera were found on him, and an AK-47 rifle was found in the bushes near the scene of the incident. The media wrote that in 2022 Ruth went to Ukraine to fight against Russia as part of the «Foreign Legion».

It is worth noting that this event happened almost exactly two months after Thomas Matthew Crooks shot Trump at a rally in Butler (Pennsylvania) on July 13, injuring the former U.S. president's ear.
