The blasts occurred on the night of February 23, coinciding with an attack on Ukraine by hostile Shahed-type drones. These Iranian-made drones are a frequent component of Russia's ongoing assaults on Ukrainian infrastructure and cities.

The head of the Regional Military Administration urged residents to stay in shelters, stating:

Consequences of the Attacks
