Border Delays with Moldova: Extended Travel Times Reported for Palanka and Orlivka Crossings.
As of the Evening of February 9
According to Novyny.live: Minor traffic congestion is being observed on the Odesa-Reni highway heading toward the Moldovan border, as well as at the 'Palanka — Mayaky — Udobne' checkpoint. This is complicating travel for drivers planning to cross the frontier.
These backups on the route to Palanka are significantly increasing journey times. The trip to Palanka will now take over an hour, a substantial increase compared to normal conditions. A slight accumulation of vehicles is also noted on the M-15 international highway, which runs through the southern part of Odesa Oblast.
Impact of Congestion on Travel
Furthermore, traffic jams toward Orlivka could affect the duration of trips to the Danube River border, with travel time currently exceeding 4 hours. Consequently, drivers should plan their routes while accounting for potential border congestion and delays.
The situation on these routes may indicate increased passenger and freight traffic toward Moldova, which could be linked to seasonal factors or shifts in regional economic activity. For context, these crossings are key transit points between Ukraine's Odesa region and Moldova. Drivers are advised to check traffic information in advance and plan their journeys with possible delays in mind to avoid unexpected situations on the road.
