Scheme Worth a Million — Former Ministry of Internal Affairs Official Exposed for Corruption
A new scandal in the Ministry of Internal Affairs — the former deputy head of the Main Service Center was found involved in corruption during the procurement of equipment. This was reported by the press service of the Office of the Prosecutor General of Ukraine via the Telegram messenger.
Leading detectives of the Bureau of Economic Security (BEB), together with prosecutors, uncovered a corruption scheme in the procurement of technical equipment for the needs of the Ministry of Internal Affairs service centers. During the investigation, it was revealed that the former official organized the procurement of secure tablets based on the Android operating system at an inflated price from his own controlled company, which resulted in losses to the state exceeding 1 million hryvnias.
The actions of the suspect were classified under part 3 of article 27, part 2 of article 28, part 2 of article 364 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. Currently, the issue of selecting a preventive measure for him is being resolved. Preliminary investigation is ongoing.
Recently, other corruption schemes were also uncovered in Ukraine, including during the allocation of monetary support to military personnel and embezzlement of the budget in the Ministry of Justice.
In conclusion to the news, it is worth noting that the outlined facts indicate the prevalence of corruption in Ukrainian institutions, as well as the active work of law enforcement agencies in combating this phenomenon.
