Zelensky announced personnel changes in the State Border Guard Service: who will head the border service.
According to ТСН: President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky announced changes in the leadership of the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine (SBGS).
He shared this information after a report from Minister of Internal Affairs Ihor Klymenko.
The need for strategy renewal
The President noted that the decision to change the leadership was triggered by the need to update the strategy of the service.
“There are tasks regarding changes in the approaches in the work of the SBGS. This was discussed with Serhii (Deineko - ed.),” Zelensky noted.
Soon, Minister of Internal Affairs Ihor Klymenko will present candidates for the position of new head of the border agency.
Further work of Deineko
The President also emphasized that Serhii Deineko is not completely leaving the security sector. The Major General will continue to work within the structure of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine in another position.
Zelensky highly appreciated Deineko's contribution, asserting that under his leadership, the SBGS made significant progress in development and strengthening.
Appointment of a new head of intelligence
In addition, the president announced the appointment of Oleg Ivashchenko as the new head of the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, replacing Kyryl Budanov. Ivashchenko previously headed the Foreign Intelligence Service and has significant experience in military intelligence and the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. He is a lieutenant general, a combatant, awarded state orders, and is part of the Supreme Commander-in-Chief’s Staff and the National Security and Defense Council.
The changes in the leadership of the SBGS and Main Intelligence Directorate indicate the president's desire to adapt Ukraine's security strategy to new challenges. Against the backdrop of the ongoing war, the renewal of leadership is an important step in strengthening the country's defense capabilities. The appointment of Oleg Ivashchenko also emphasizes the focus on the need for effective management in the face of growing threats.
