Zelensky on negotiations: a peace agreement could be reached by Christmas

According to ТСН: Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky stated that the 'most intensive and focused negotiations for peace' since the beginning of the war are currently underway.

This information was announced by the country’s leader during his speech in the Netherlands parliament.

“We are not talking about a pause or a temporary, indefinite decision. We are closely cooperating with our partners to finally end this Russian war against Ukraine,” Zelensky said.

According to him, Ukraine still needs 'the same strong political support' as it did at the beginning of the war.

Commenting on statements from the Kremlin regarding the need to eliminate the 'root causes of the war', Zelensky noted that the Russian Federation has repeatedly chosen conflict over peace—from Chechnya to the Balkans, from Moldova to Syria. He emphasized that Russians always claim they are not to blame.

“They always blame others and always try to explain their wars by someone else's actions, as if the reason for aggression never lies in Moscow but always in their neighbors,” he said, adding that the Kremlin 'expects concessions' so that 'Russia could stop the bloodshed.'

The German publication BILD also emphasizes that after negotiations in Berlin, the West has begun to talk about the end of the war in Ukraine. Politicians believe that the likelihood of this 'is closer than ever.' In particular, this opinion is shared by US President Donald Trump.

During the first round of negotiations in Berlin, American negotiators Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner, along with German Chancellor Friedrich Merz and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, discussed a scenario in which a peace agreement could be reached by Christmas.

Currently, peace negotiations are focused on the situation in Ukraine. While the leaders of countries continue discussions, the international community is closely monitoring developments. We hope that an optimal solution will be found that will require efforts from both sides and lead to stable and lasting peace in the region.
