Ukraine Willing to Negotiate Ceasefire, But Only If Sovereignty Is Preserved: Zelenskyy Sets His Terms.
Ceasefire Readiness Amid Ongoing Russian Aggression
According to Novyny.live: Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has signaled his country's readiness for a ceasefire, but made it clear that territorial integrity and national sovereignty are non-negotiable. This stance comes as Russian forces continue their active aggression, launching 619 attacks over the past four days alone. In a single night, Russia targeted Ukraine with 164 drones, 150 of which were neutralized by air defense systems. These incidents underscore the rising tensions in the region.
Frontline Developments and Humanitarian Toll
On March 30, a Russian drone struck a minibus in Kherson, injuring the driver. Meanwhile, a Russian attack on Kramatorsk claimed three lives, including a 13-year-old boy. These events highlight the severity of the frontline situation and the conflict's devastating humanitarian impact.
Zelenskyy also held discussions with the King of Jordan about a potential security partnership, emphasizing the importance of reaching historic defense cooperation agreements with Middle Eastern nations. To address fuel concerns, Ukraine has ramped up diesel imports, effectively eliminating the risk of a shortage in April. The president further stated:
“Ukraine is prepared to halt strikes on Russian oil refineries only if Moscow reciprocates with a similar move.”This remark reflects Kyiv's position on potential dialogue with Russia.
The Ukrainian leader's statement underscores the nation's desire for a peaceful resolution to the conflict, but without any compromises on its sovereignty. At the same time, the intensifying military aggression from Russia casts doubt on the prospects for reaching a peace deal in the near future. The push to secure new security agreements with Middle Eastern countries also signals Ukraine's efforts to strengthen its international standing and find fresh allies in its fight against aggression.
