Zelenskyy's Meeting with the UN Commissioner

According to Novyny.live: Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy held talks with UN High Commissioner for Refugees Barham Salih to address the consequences of Russian strikes on Ukraine's energy infrastructure and the urgent need for humanitarian assistance. This meeting comes as Ukraine faces a critical winter with its power grid severely damaged by targeted attacks. During the discussion, President Zelenskyy expressed gratitude to Barham Salih for his first visit to Ukraine in his current role and for the ongoing support provided by the UNHCR to Ukrainians forced to live under constant Russian bombardment.

I thank Barham Salih for his first visit to Ukraine in his capacity as High Commissioner and for all the support the UNHCR provides to our people, who are forced to live under Russian attacks. — Volodymyr Zelenskyy

The President stressed that Ukraine requires greater international support as the situation remains critical. Zelenskyy also emphasized the need for increased pressure on the aggressor state:

They do not want to stop. We are trying everything we can at various levels of negotiation, relying on the support of our American partners. But we feel we need more pressure. And also more support for the morale of our people. — Volodymyr Zelenskyy

These remarks underscore the vital importance of sustained international backing amid the prolonged conflict.

Other Key Diplomatic Engagements

In addition to the meeting with Barham Salih, Volodymyr Zelenskyy conducted several other high-level meetings on February 15. The Ukrainian President met with:

  • The Prime Minister of North Macedonia;
  • Participants of the Munich Security Conference, discussing international security matters with Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner;
  • The President of the Czech Republic, Petr Pavel.

These engagements highlight Ukraine's active foreign policy efforts during a challenging period for the nation.

The meeting between Volodymyr Zelenskyy and Barham Salih represents a significant step in bolstering international support for Ukraine in the face of Russian aggression. The President's calls for greater pressure on the aggressor and for essential aid for Ukrainians highlight the ongoing refugee and humanitarian crisis. In the context of the protracted war, support from international organizations and allied nations remains crucial for Ukraine to overcome the immense challenges it faces.
