Ukrainian President Meets with U.S. Congressional Delegation

According to UATV: On May 27 in Kyiv, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy met with U.S. Congressmen Richard Blumenthal and Jim Himes to discuss continued support for Ukraine following Russian attacks. The conversation focused on strengthening Ukraine's air defense systems and the urgent need for anti-ballistic missiles. This meeting comes as Ukraine faces intensified missile strikes from Russian forces.

Zelenskyy stated, 'We have a significant need for anti-ballistic missiles due to constant Russian shelling. I sent a letter to the White House and the U.S. Congress outlining Ukraine's requirements for these missiles. Today, I personally handed that letter to the congressmen as well.'

In his remarks, he also underscored the critical importance of sustained support for Ukraine, especially in light of large-scale Russian assaults.

Statements from U.S. Congress Members

Richard Blumenthal, who previously visited Ukraine in February, commented:

'What Putin is doing is beyond cruelty. He is trying to terrorize and intimidate Ukraine into submission and convince the world that Russia is winning. I returned after my February visit to tell people: Russia is not winning. Russia will not win. Ukraine can win if we support them.'

Jim Himes also confirmed that 'support for Ukraine, including the provision of intelligence, will continue.' Zelenskyy emphasized the need to avoid any weakening of sanctions against the Russian Federation, describing this as crucial for backing Ukraine during this challenging period.

The discussion also addressed the heavy losses Russia has suffered in the conflict. Zelenskyy reported successful long-range strikes by Ukrainian defense forces, highlighting the effectiveness of their military operations.

Zelenskyy's meeting with the U.S. congressional delegation underscores the strategic importance of international support for Ukraine amid ongoing Russian aggression. Deepening military assistance, particularly in air defense, could significantly influence the conflict's trajectory and provide additional means to protect Ukrainian civilians.

Maintaining sanctions against Russia remains a key priority, as their enforcement is vital for sustaining economic pressure on the aggressor.
